Key messages of the CAPPOW technology

ESTECH Hall: A4 Stand: 4C17

AN EFFECTIVE WAY TO COMBAT CLIMATE CHANGE
In the circular process, the flue gas holding the carbon dioxide (CO2)
is led into an absorber where the CO2 is removed from the flue gas.
The flue gas coming in from the bottom of the tower is flushed with an
alkaline liquid that absorbs and captures the CO2. The flue gas
coming out of the chimney is thereby cleaner and emission of CO2
has been reduced.

The carbon-dioxide-loaded liquid from the absorber continues on to
an electrolytical cell that, in simple terms, splits CO2 from the liquid
and produces hydrogen and oxygen. By the end of the process the
liquid without CO2 is regenerated to minimize waste of chemicals and is circulated back to the absorber.

UTILIZATION
Hydrogen, oxygen and CO2 are valuable building blocks for future
green fuels.

The produced hydrogen can be used directly as green fuel or
transformed into electricity and heat. Likewise, the captured CO2 can
be converted into green fuel or stored underground. The CO2 can
also be compressed and used in the food industry e.g. for carbonated
beverages or used for enrichment in greenhouses to enhance plant
growth.

FROM WASTE TO VALUE
The technology is a viable way to turn harmful compounds into useful
products by applying it to combined heat and power plants, water and
wastewater utilities, biogas plants or any other industrial production
that emits CO2.
