Hamburger Energienetze GmbH
Hamburger Energienetze operates the electricity and gas grid in Hamburg. The company's aim is to provide Hamburg's residents with a reliable supply of energy around the clock. Around 2,300 specialists work on this at several locations in Hamburg. As part of the energy transition, the company is working on preparing the distribution grids for future requirements. As part of the IPCEI-funded HH-WIN project, a 60-kilometre hydrogen grid is being built in the port, which will supply industrial customers with green energy. Hamburg's electricity grid is also being converted and expanded. This will ensure that more heat pumps or public and private charging points for electric cars can be installed and connected to the grid and that increasing energy demand can be fullfilled. In addition to operating the gas and electricity grid, Hamburger Energienetze is also the responsible metering point operator for electricity and gas connections in Hamburg.
