A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for bringing scalable green hydrogen production into various harsh environments, including offshore and nearshore, has been created between HydePoint and Nel Hydrogen.
The companies aim to move Nel’s PEM electrolyser stacks into HydePoint’s modular hydrogen production systems, so they can create strong configurations that can deliver a reliable performance, even under harsh or demanding conditions. This will provide support to the deployment of renewable hydrogen on an industrial scale.
HydePoint and Nel Hydrogen’s partnership drives the integration and optimisation of hydrogen production alongside renewable power sources forwards, ultimately supporting the expansion of renewable energy value chains at a global capacity. The partnership also has intentions to improve the Levelized Cost of Hydrogen (LCOH), by working on operational resilience in offshore and nearshore environments, modularity and system efficiency. Making these improvements will help the industry’s progression towards large-scale clean hydrogen production and decarbonisation.
Elin Steinsland, CEO of HydePoint AS, said “We’re proud to collaborate with Nel to accelerate the next generation of offshore and nearshore hydrogen production systems. This is a key milestone in making renewable hydrogen viable at scale and under harsh environment operating conditions.”
Todd Cartwright, Chief Commercial Officer at Nel Hydrogen , stated “HydePoint brings a highly innovative approach to marine-based hydrogen systems. We see strong alignment between our PEM technology and HydePoint’s ambition to deliver resilient, modular solutions for the global clean energy transition.”
