Samsung E&A will provide Liquid Wind’s global e-fuel plants with engineering
It has been recently announced that Liquid Wind and Samsung E&A will be collaborating in order to develop green hydrogen-based e-fuel facilities. These facilities will be located in Asia, Africa, as well as the Middle East.
Right now, Liquid Wind has a direct focus on e-methanol production, with hopes of meeting demand from the shipping industry.
It was in November that the company was able to raise 44m euros in a Series C financing round. This funding round received participation from Uniper, HYCAP, as well as Samsung Venture. Altogether, the plan with this financing round, was to use it in order to develop 10 e-fuel facilities by 2027.
Furthermore, the oil and gas EPC firm has greed to provide engineering services for Liquid Wind’s future projects that are based outside of Europe. This arrangement was set up after the South Korean tech giant’s investment arm received a share in the company and this part of the project occurred a few weeks ago.
CEO and founder of Liquid Wind, Claes Frederiksson, made their ambitious goal of setting up an estimated 100 and 300 e-fuel facilities worldwide by 2040 and they commented, “We will explore the feasibility of developing e-fuel facilities outside of Europe to meet the increasing market demand of fossil-free fuel.”
President and CEO of Samsung E&A, Hong Namkoong, mentioned, “By harnessing our expertise in EPC and modular manufacturing, we are committed to driving growth in the e-fuel market. Through our strategic collaboration with Liquid Wind, we aim to ensure the successful delivery of their e-fuel projects, advance efforts to mitigate climate change, and unlock new business opportunities in this transformative sector.”
