Symbio is now Europe’s ‘first’ fuel cell supplier to achieve IATF 16949 certification

Symbio is now Europe’s ‘first’ fuel cell supplier to achieve IATF 16949 certification

It has been announced that Symbio has officially become Europe’s first hydrogen fuel cell actor to be certified to IATF 16949. This certification is the benchmark automotive standard.

Symbio is a European leader when it comes to fuel cells for zero-emission hydrogen mobility and the company recently made the announcement that Letter of Conformity to IATF 16949 certification around the Design and Manufacturing perimeters, has been awarded to the group by Bureau Veritas. This certification showcases the technological and industrial maturity which Symbio and SymphonHy have now reached. These two companies make up Europe’s largest site which is dedicated to both the development and production of hydrogen fuel cells, as well as their systems. Symbio is the first player in fuel cell technology in Europe, as well as the second around the globe, to achieve this certification.

This IATF 16949 standard is known as the international reference for quality management, which was specifically designed for the automotive industry. The standard was developed off of the principles of ISO 9001 and its core aim is to make sure that all products and services comply with the quality of standards set out by automakers. This results in the quality and reliability of their products being certified throughout the automotive supply chain. This is extremely important when it comes to selecting suppliers of components, sub-assemblies or even services to automakers.

Symbio CEO,  Philippe Rosier, commented, “Obtaining the Letter of Conformity for IATF 16949 certification is a major strategic milestone for a Tier 1 equipment manufacturer. The certification of the Symbio Group and its first gigafactory, SymphonHy, is recognition of Symbio's organizational maturity, industrial rigor and innovative power, capable of meeting the automotive industry's most stringent requirements by placing continuous improvement and operational excellence at the heart of its priorities.”
