Head of Subdivision IIB - Hydrogen Ramp-Up and Energy Research, Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action
Dr. Axel Bree has studied law in Cologne (Germany) and Washington DC (US) and completed his Ph.D. at the University of Göttingen (Germany). After a few years in a private law firm he joined the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs in 2002. Between 2005 and 2010, he has been seconded to the Federal Chancellery and to the German Embassy in Washington DC as well as worked for the World Future Council in London (UK). In 2016, he became Head of Division for Industrial Policy Aspects of Energy Supply, at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, being responsible for the IPCEI Hydrogen and the Carbon Contracts for Difference. Since March 2024, he is Deputy Director General for Hydrogen Ramp-up and Energy Research.
